According to Juheng.com, the United States and India launched a cooperation plan yesterday to strengthen the cooperation between the two countries in the fields of semiconductors and artificial intelligence in order to jointly compete with China and Russia.

U.S. National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan, Indian National Security Adviser Ajit Doval and senior officials of the two countries met at the White House on Tuesday to launch the US – India Initiative on Critical and Emerging Technologies.

Through cooperation, the US government hopes to deploy more mobile networks in India, and encourages enterprises of the two countries to conduct more communication on semiconductors such as computing chips and rocket systems.

Sullivan believed that the geopolitical challenges brought by China and Russia were not the single reason for the US-India cooperation initiative.

Sullivan said that India was interested in improving the production capacity of packaging and traditional chips. He also said that the resistance India encountered in building chip production facilities was caused by political and policy will, not lack of professional talents.

India proposed "Made in India" in 2014, and relevant enterprises are making continuous efforts. Not long ago, it was reported that India Tata Group was negotiating with Apple's iPhone manufacturer, Wistron, to acquire Wistron's only manufacturing plant in India at a price of about 612.6 million US dollars. If the two parties fail to reach an acquisition agreement, they may establish a joint venture.

Industry insiders pointed out that in order to meet the expectations of India's transformation, India must continue to reduce red tape and simplify labor laws, ensuring that enterprises can obtain land is another problem that needs to be solved.
