Plano, Texas, June 29, 2022 - Diodes Corporation continues to strengthen its portfolio of USB Power Delivery (PD) solutions with two new high-performance USB PD3.0 Sink controller ICs. The AP33771 and AP33772 receiver controllers are designed for appliances and cordless power tools and can be coordinated via USB-C to achieve the appropriate voltage potential. Both controllers operate over a voltage range of 3.3V to 24V. 

The AP33771 features easy pinout for voltage and power requirements to increase ease of use, while the AP33772 provides more flexibility for sophisticated designs with µC (with I2C interface). Both devices have built-in application firmware that automatically coordinates PD3.0 with the connected USB PD3.0 compatible charger to obtain the desired power level, and LEDs (driven by a GPIO) to clearly indicate charging status and possible failure conditions. 

The AP33771 has a preloaded power menu with 8 output voltages and 10 power levels. Simply change the resistor settings to match the power requirements of the end device. In addition, it provides 5V charging when connected to a traditional USB Type-A charger and supports voltage drop compensation for USB Type-C to USB Type-C cables. 

The AP33772's I2C interface enables more complex system designs to specify specific power profiles and use various protection features. 

The AP33771 and AP33772 are available in a 24-pin W-QFN4040 package.
