ADI introduces the ADXL367 accelerometer to help the medical industry

FREE-SKY (HK) ELECTRONICS CO.,LIMITED / 08-06 16:09

Analog Devices, Inc. (ADI) has introduced a triaxial MEMS accelerometer for a wide range of medical health and industrial applications, including devices for vital sign monitoring, hearing assistance and motion metering. the ADXL367 accelerometer offers a twofold improvement in power consumption compared to the previous generation device (ADXL362), while improving noise performance by more than 30 percent. The new accelerometer also provides longer field use, maximizes battery life, and reduces maintenance frequency and cost.

The ADXL367 consumes only 0.88 µA at 100 Hz output data rate and 180 nA in motion-triggered wake-up mode. unlike accelerometers that use power duty cycles to achieve low power consumption, the ADXL367 does not mix the input signal by undersampling, but instead uses the full data rate to sample the entire bandwidth of the sensor.

ADXL367 key features.

- Power consumption of 200 nW for motion detection in wake-up mode and 970 nW in measurement mode.

- Deeper multi-mode output FIFO, built-in micropower temperature sensor, internal ADC for simultaneous conversion of additional analog inputs, click/double-click detection and state machine to prevent false triggering.

- Supply voltage as low as 1.1V, operates on a single battery and requires no external boost converter.

- Supports external control of sample time and/or external clock.

- Rich digital features such as click and double-click, drop detection, activity detection, etc. reduce the computational requirements of the host microprocessor and further reduce system power consumption.
