In IoT systems, trust mechanisms are the cornerstone for various interactions between devices and cloud services. Therefore, it is essential to provide a unique trusted ID for each device for secure authentication when the device is connected to the network. At the same time, providing secure IDs for thousands of devices is a considerable challenge for OEMs. To help OEMs meet these challenges, Infineon has combined the OPTIGA™ Trust M Express security chip with the CIRRENT™ Cloud ID service to deliver a high-end security solution that provides hardware trust anchors for mass access to the cloud for IoT devices. 

OPTIGA™ Trust M Express 

The recently announced OPTIGA™ Trust M Express security chip provides hardware-level security for IoT devices around all stages, from manufacturing to cloud service configuration to field deployment. At all stages of the product lifecycle, its encrypted identity is protected from compromise. With this ready-to-use solution, OEMs do not need to build and maintain highly secure production facilities in order to provide unique ID information to their devices, thus simplifying the production process, speeding up time-to-market and reducing costs. 

Offered in conjunction with the OPTIGA™ Trust M Express security chip, Infineon CIRRENT™ Cloud ID is a cloud service that automates IoT device certificate registration and configures large-scale IoT devices to the product cloud. The combination of these two solutions makes it easy and secure for developers to configure and connect IoT devices to the cloud, while enhancing device security from this stage of manufacturing. This simplifies the process of configuring IoT devices to the customer's product cloud, getting them on the cloud quickly, a process that requires no human intervention and thus eliminates human error. Customers also save time and resources as a result, and achieve a high degree of flexible scalability of devices on the cloud. 

Development Kit Support 

The OPTIGA™ Trust M Express security chip is available now, and when paired with the OPTIGA™ Trust M IoT Security Development Kit, it enables developers to easily evaluate and import designs. In addition, developers can reference design application notes and receive extensive technical integration support from Infineon without signing a non-disclosure agreement. In addition, Infineon also provides training related to its security products.
