Infineon and Delta join hands: to capture the high-end server and gaming power market

Global megatrends such as digitalization and decarbonization are driving the demand for silicon/gallium nitride (SiC/GaN) devices using wide band gap (WBG) devices. These devices have unique technical characteristics that can help power products optimize performance and energy efficiency. Infineon Technologies (FSE: IFX / OTCQX: IFNNY) and Delta Electronics (TWSE: 2308), two global electronics majors with a long-standing commitment to innovative semiconductors and power electronics, today announced that they are deepening their collaboration to enhance the use of wide-bandgap SiC and GaN devices in high-end power supply products to provide outstanding solutions for end customers. Infineon and Delta continue to deepen their product integration and application cooperation, with Infineon's wide-bandgap power devices used in Delta's latest 1.4 kW server power supply and 1.6 kW 80 Plus Titanium-class gaming power supply. With decades of core competency in power electronics, Delta combined with Infineon's high performance asymmetric trench CoolSiC technology to deliver a 1.4 kW server power supply that achieves over 96% efficiency. Another 1.6 kW Titanium-class gaming power supply features Infineon's CoolGaN™ rId13 and EiceDRIVER™ rId14 ICs, which achieve 96% efficiency at multi-voltage output, well above the industrial Titanium-class standard (94%), mainly due to the use of Infineon's CoolGaN™ GIT (Gate Current Injection Transistor) 600 V e mode HEMT technology with a staggered totem pole PFC topology, resulting in a significant increase in overall efficiency.

These two indicative design examples successfully demonstrate the excellent results created by combining the strengths of both companies. Infineon's industry-leading portfolio of performance-driven, high-reliability wide-bandgap devices and Delta's innovative capabilities in power electronics systems combine to achieve a new level of efficiency in power supplies that meet or exceed today's 80 Plus standard.
