According to Yonhap News Agency, Samsung's first 3-nanometer chips have completed production and held a shipping ceremony at its Hwaseong campus plant in South Korea on the 25th. Samsung said that the company was the first to achieve an important milestone in the global race for advanced chip processes.

However, Samsung did not announce the first 3-nanometer chip customers. Earlier, a media report said that sources revealed that Samsung said it already has customers ordering capacity, including virtual currency mining machine chip design company Shanghai PanSemi, as well as mobile processor maker Qualcomm (Qualcomm), etc., but Qualcomm will depend on the situation to cast the film.

It is reported that Samsung officially announced at the end of June this year, the initial production of chips based on the 3nm Gate-All-AroundT process node, the first will be applied to high-performance, low-power computing semiconductor chips, and plans to expand it to the field of mobile processors.

Officials said that, compared with Samsung's 5nm process, Samsung's first-generation 3nm process can reduce power consumption by 45%, improve performance by 23%, and reduce the chip area by 16%; Samsung said that the future second-generation 3nm process will reduce power consumption by 50%, improve performance by 30%, and reduce the chip area by 35%.
