The world-renowned semiconductor company ST's VNF1048F automotive high-side switch controller integrates enhanced system protection diagnostics and ST's I2-t silicon fuse protection technology. 

As the first product in ST's new STi2Fuse family with integrated I2-t protection, the VNF1048F is compatible with 12V, 24V and 48V automotive power systems (board nets), and its outstanding flexibility makes it particularly suitable for designing the latest more energy-efficient and reliable automotive area electronic/electrical (E/E) architectures, while meeting the higher requirements of smart driving for The VNF1048F is a feature-rich, flexible solution that is particularly suited to the design of the latest automotive area electrical/electronic (E/E) architectures with increased energy efficiency and reliability, while meeting the higher requirements of smart driving for electrification and functionality. 

Feature-rich and highly adaptive, the VNF1048F is equipped with a serial peripheral interface (SPI) to connect to a host microcontroller to configure and monitor system protection diagnostics, which include undervoltage protection, overtemperature protection, external high-side MOSFET thermal protection, desaturation shutdown, and I2-t fuse settings. With built-in high-precision digital current measurement, the product also integrates an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) for monitoring thermistor voltages, output voltages and drain source voltages that are sensitive to temperature changes. 

ST's I2-t fuse is a core function of the STi2Fuse product family, performing fast response, repeatable settings, and reliable overcurrent protection. The use of silicon fuse fuses eliminates the need for user-accessible fuse boxes and the associated wiring and installation costs, helping to simplify automotive wiring harnesses and reduce cable weight. The lighter weight of the vehicle contributes to improved vehicle performance, longer range and reduced CO2 emissions. 

The VNF1048FTR is in production now in a QFN 32L 5mm x 5mm 32-pin package.
