I. Features

toggle switch is to switch the circuit by turning the switch handle to make the circuit on or off. The commonly used varieties of toggle switches include single-pole double-position, single-pole three-position, double-pole double-position, and double-pole three-position, etc. They are generally used in low-voltage circuits and have the characteristics of flexible slider action and stable and reliable performance. Mainly widely used in: various instruments/meters and equipment, various electric toys, fax machines, audio equipment, medical equipment, beauty equipment, and other electronic products.

1. Specifications

Various aspects of toggle switch performance:

(1) Electrical performance specifications

A. Contact resistance test:

Test under a small current (100mA).

Requirements: Must be less than 30 milliohms.

B. Insulation resistance test:

Input 500V DC voltage for 1 minute and test according to the following contact methods:

Between contact terminals.

Between the rubber seat body and the row feet.

Requirements: It must be more than 100 megohms.

C. Withstand voltage test:

Input AC 500V (50-60Hz) voltage, 1-minute sensitivity current is 0.5mA, test according to the following contact method:

Between rows of feet

Between row feet and shell

Requirements: There is no abnormality such as insulation damage.

(2) Mechanical performance specifications

A. The normal operating force is: 250+_50gf

B. Terminal strength

Increase the force (500gf) on the tip in either direction for 1 minute.

In the row of feet, there is no abnormality such as cracking, movement, etc.

Requirements: Meet the mechanical and electrical performance.

C.Test standard status

The test temperature, humidity, and air pressure are as follows if not specified:

The temperature is 5℃~35℃

Humidity is 45%~85%

The air pressure is 80Kpa~106Kpa

(3) Durability

A. Solderability test

The top of the terminal is immersed in the soldering pool 1 mm deep, the temperature is 230 ± 5 ℃, and the time is 3 ± 0.5 seconds.

note:

- The welding time should be less than 3 seconds

- The welding area must be more than 80%.

B. Solder resistance test

The temperature of the soldering furnace is controlled at 260±5℃, the furnace time is 3±0.5 seconds, and the substrate thickness is 1.0mm

When hand welding, the temperature should be controlled at 320±5℃, and the time is 3±0.5 seconds.

Requirements: Must meet the body without deformation, meet the mechanical and electrical energy.

C. Life test

No load: The operator performs 100,000 no load tests at a frequency of 60 times per minute.

Caution:

- The contact resistance cannot exceed 200mΩ

- Other, satisfy the mechanical and electrical properties.

(4) Heat resistance test

After placing the test at a temperature of 85±2℃ for 96 hours, then place it at normal room temperature for 1 hour to determine.

Requirements: No abnormal appearance, satisfying mechanical and electrical performance.

(5) Cold resistance test

Place at 40±2℃. The relative humidity is 90~96% after 96 hours in an environment,

Then put the sample in a normal environment for 1 hour before testing.

Requirements: No abnormal appearance, satisfying mechanical and electrical performance.

(6) Humidity test

Place at 40±2℃. The relative humidity is 90~96% after 96 hours in an environment,

Then put the sample in a normal environment for 1 hour before testing.

Requirements: No abnormal appearance, satisfying mechanical and electrical performance.

(7) Mechanical specifications:

A. Conventional action force: 250+_50gf

B. Terminal strength: add force (500gf) to the tip in any direction for 1 minute. There is no abnormality such as cracks, scalping, etc. in the row of feet. The requirements of the toggle switch: meet the mechanical and electrical performance.

2. Components

A toggle switch is mainly assembled by the following parts through the corresponding process:

1. Iron shell (material: generally iron; treatment process: treated by electroplating nickel or black-burning process to prevent oxidation)

2. Plastic handle (material: generally POM material, if there is a requirement for fire, flame retardant and high temperature resistance, PA nylon material is often used. Processing process: injection molding)

3. Terminal (Material: generally phosphorous copper; Treatment process: silver plating)

4. Insulating bottom plate (Material: Bakelite; Process: Stamping and forming)

5. Contact chip (material: generally phosphor copper; processing technology: silver plating)

6. Round wave beads (material: generally stainless steel; treatment process: nickel plating)

8. Decorative oil (Material: red oil or green oil, a kind of chemical oil, applied to the contact part of the terminal and the bottom plate to play a decorative role. Generally non-toxic and environmentally friendly)

II. Types

Toggle switches are divided into small current toggle switches and large current toggle switches. Small current toggle switches are commonly used in electronic toys and digital communications. Large currents are generally used in electrical appliances, machinery, etc.

1. Large current sealed toggle switch

Its rated current is as high as 5A, and it is sealed with epoxy resin, so it is a large current sealed toggle switch. There are various terminal forms, the contact materials are silver-plated and gold, and the switch functions are diverse. Therefore, there are many types of subdivisions.
