Infineon said at the financial report meeting a few days ago that it is expected that the shortage of automobile MCU will ease in the second half of 2023.

According to the Taiwan Media Electronic Times, Infineon reiterated the differentiation of the semiconductor market. The demand for semiconductors in the automotive, renewable energy and security sectors is still strong, but the demand for consumer products has slowed down periodically, and the enterprise's spending on IT infrastructure is weak.

According to Infineon, with the continuous development of electric vehicles and ADAS, customers are now more willing to sign capacity reservation agreements or place longer commitment orders to ensure the supply of semiconductors. OEMs now have a "strong tendency" to purchase strategic components directly and strive for higher inventory levels.

In order to meet such demand, the company is increasing the production speed to nearly 1 million pieces per day. In fiscal year 2023, the capacity of auto products has been fully booked.

It is reported that Infineon achieved a revenue of 3.951 billion euros in the fourth quarter of 2022 (the first quarter of fiscal year 2023), down 5% month-on-month, and a net profit of 1.107 billion euros, up about 4.6% month-on-month.
