The MAX3485ECSA+T is a 3.3V powered, ±15KV ESD protected true RS485/RS422 transceiver in 8 pin NSOIC package. This low power transceiver contains one driver and one receiver. The MAX3485ECSA+T transmits up to 15Mbps. It has enhanced ESD protection. All transmitter outputs and receiver inputs are protected to ±15KV using IEC 1000-4-2 air-gap discharge, ±8KV using IEC 1000-4-2 contact discharge and ±15KV using human body model. Driver is short circuit current limited and it is protected against excessive power dissipation by thermal shutdown circuitry that places the driver outputs into a high impedance state. The receiver input has a fail-safe feature that provides logic high output if both inputs are open circuit. The MAX3485ECSA+T is used in EMI sensitive applications, integrated services, digital networks and packet switching.
